A flooring sample shows the colour and texture. It does not tell you whether the existing floor needs removal, whether preparation is needed underneath or how much finishing the room will require. Those decisions belong in the plan before you commit to a product.
Start with the rooms you want to change and what bothers you about the existing floor: wear, cleaning, uneven areas or an awkward connection to another room. Bring those observations and the product details to the estimate discussion. Meiju’s flooring service covers installation with removal, preparation, trim and transitions as agreed.

Look at where the floor meets the rest of the room
The basement project shows flooring within a complete living space. The separate staircase photograph illustrates a connection worth discussing. These are different projects, not a before-and-after comparison.

Five questions to settle before ordering
Will the product suit this room?
Tell us how the space is used, whether it is below grade and whether there are moisture concerns. Compare the selected product’s instructions with the actual room. A water-resistant surface is not a repair for a moisture problem underneath. For wood flooring, room conditions and subfloor moisture need assessment before installation.
What will happen to the existing floor?
Ask whether removal and disposal are included and what can be checked before the old floor comes up. If you hope to install over an existing surface, have that assessed against the product’s requirements. Do not assume a new underlay will correct movement or an unsuitable substrate.
What preparation is included?
Ask the estimate to distinguish installation from repairs or levelling that may be needed underneath. Uneven areas and movement can affect the result. The selected flooring system and manufacturer’s instructions determine the requirements; there is no single preparation method for every room.
How will doors, stairs and adjoining floors meet?
A change in floor height can affect door clearance, thresholds, trim and the landing at a staircase. Discuss these edges before buying. If a kitchen renovation is planned later, share that plan too: cabinet locations and appliance clearances may affect the sequence.
What does the complete quotation cover?
Compare material supply, quantities, removal, disposal, preparation, installation, trim, transitions and cleanup. Identify allowances, taxes and exclusions. Also agree on furniture and appliance moves, access to the rooms and how unexpected work will be approved. A lower material price does not establish a lower installed total.
Planning your flooring improvement with Meiju
Send the rooms involved, a few photos, your neighbourhood and any product you are considering. Mention uneven areas, moisture concerns and connections to stairs or future renovations. Meiju can discuss the installation scope, preparation and finishing, then clarify the next step for an estimate.
Discuss my flooring projectBefore you begin
Should I buy the flooring before requesting an estimate?
You can bring a sample or product specification first. Confirm suitability, quantities, supply responsibilities and installation requirements before committing to an order.
Can you install flooring I already purchased?
Share the product details, quantity and the rooms involved. Meiju can review the requested installation scope; suitability and sufficient material still need confirmation.
How long will the work take?
The room count, removal, preparation, product requirements and access affect scheduling. Ask for a project-specific sequence rather than relying on a generic installation time.
Can I do one room now and the rest later?
It may be possible. Plan transitions, matching materials and future work before the first room starts, and agree on the scope and payment schedule in writing.
